ANTIQUE FRENCH JAPY FRERES ORMOLU MANTEL CLOCK PAINTED PORCELAIN CHERUB WORKS 15.5"

For sale here is this superb French ormolu and turquoise ground porcelain mantel clock with a giltwood stand. This beautiful, antique clock has a porcelain dial which is painted with flowers. There is a large porcelain panel beneath the dial which is painted with a winged cherub carrying a basket of flowers. Two circular panels at the sides are painted with garlands of flowers. The clock is topped with a porcelain urn (also painted with flowers) with ormolu handles and a vase of flowers above.

The 8-day, bell-striking movement is impressed with a Japy Freres Grande Medaille D'Honneur mark. It is also impressed with the serial number "6028". It has been ultra-sonically cleaned and oiled and is working well. The clock will come complete with a pendulum and key and a giltwood stand. It dates to circa 1870.

It measures approximately 15 1/2 inches high, 10 3/4 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches deep. The clock which weighs approximately 5.3kg (around 11lbs 11oz) unpacked. It is in very good antique condition, the only exception being a small chip to the right side of the urn on top, which is covered by the metal handle.

Antique and vintage clocks may require to be set up and put into beat again after transport. Firstly, the clock must be on a level surface to run properly. Sometimes, slight adjustments have to be made after transit to get the clock running properly in its new position.
