Description
CWC / Hamilton 1974 British Military Issue Pilot's Chronograph – Valjoux 7733 – Gilt Dial
A 1970s RAF-issue pilot's chronograph from the "Fab Four" family of military chronographs.
About the CWC / Hamilton title: this is a Hamilton watch, with a Hamilton-stamped movement bridge and Hamilton case numbers and hands, fitted with a period-correct CWC dial. Hamilton and CWC used the same parts, and dials and parts were often swapped between the brands during MOD servicing, so mixed examples like this are a known part of these watches' history.
- Manual-wind Valjoux 7733 chronograph movement
- Gilt dial (correct for the early 1970s): the numerals, logo and markers are open, showing the brass beneath
- Tritium dial and hands have aged naturally; the dial is darker than the hands, which is typical for these
- Fixed strap bars straight and undamaged
- Caseback engraved 0552 / 6645-99-924-3306, broad arrow, 252/74: RAF issue, 1974. Engraving clear, with light strap rub
- Case number 1426661 inside the caseback
- Serviced by Armstrong Watch Repair under a previous owner
Comes with the leather strap in the photos , will include a couple of NATO type straps too.
