Description
Irish Republican MAGILLIGAN Prisoner's Harp (IRA / INLA) P o W Camp 1977
This rare handcrafted wooden Celtic winged Harp unsigned, but a scarce piece of art, was made by an Irish Republican prisoner in Magilligan Prison, Belfast sometime in 1977.
It is made of solid mahogany and is approximately 34cm/13" high and 20cm/8" wide.
It is in good condition with all the strings intact with some scuffs and scratches
This hand carved Celtic Harp has a winged side, which was characteristically associated with Irish Republicanism since 1798.
It is a rare and much sought after collectible example of the prison work carried out by Irish Republican Prisoners before the famous Hunger Strikes of 1981.
It is an exquisite example of a hand crafted piece of Irish history
