Item Details
A fine and large antique Victorian French mahogany mantel clock dating to the 19th century circa 1870.
The white enamel dial with hand painted Roman numerals and minute marks is protected by a thick bevelled glass door with an ormolu rim. The clock drum is surrounded by profusely carved floral patterns, flanked by two Corinthian columns and raised on four ormolu bun feet.
The original twin train eight day movement is present, striking the hours and half hours on a gong and is regulated. The pendulum and winding key are present. The mechanism is stamped by one of the most renowned clock manufacturers of the 19th century, Samuel Marti.
