LARGE Antique Anglo Indian Vizagapatam Sadeli carved inlaid wood sewing Box +key

A very fine totally original and very large and imposing 19th century circa 1850 antique Anglo Indian Vizagapatam Sadeli work ladies sewing box made of intricately carved sandalwood and in a lovely tiered sarcophagus form with original working lock and key From research & having seen similar pieces online I understand this likely dates to around 1850 so an interesting Anglo Indian antique box of significant age It is wonderfully carved with images of temples, foliage and mythical exotic animals & birds &is further enhanced with Sadeli mosaic inlay and banding. It has a complete (no missing lids) upper compartmentalised lift out tray with each compartment having a lid bearing a finely carved creature or with a decorative thread holder and thimble and beneath this lift out upper layer there is the original faded red velvet lining beneath. It would make a lovely jewellery box and look simply fabulous as a display item. The box has its original carry handles at each side & a working lock with a key Large dimensions: it measures 11.5 inches wide and 8 inches front to back and 4 inches high Overall the box is in lovely condition and the carvings all look beautiful sharply precise & detailed: there is some narrow banding/inlay missing on the lid as pictured and a few compartment lids are missing just their original tiny circular wire pull handles but really none of this detracts from the gorgeous display this box makes. I think there might have been a mirror originally in the inner lid but this could easily be replaced This would make a fantastic gift!
